Spiced Pomegranate Smoothie

Just in time for Christmas, we have a pretty red and green smoothie. Well it’s only red and green if your blender isn’t very good. Otherwise you end up with a nice reddish-pink :) Feel free to add more spinach to this smoothie, I usually do. Just be warned that the more spinach you add the browner it gets. I like to keep it nice and red when having guests over, they tend to be more particular when it comes to drinking random brown drinks…

Makes: 3 cups (perfect for sharing)

  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 1/4 cup almond milk (or other milk substitute )
  • 1/4 cup spinach (if making this for a gout diet use kale)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/8 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Equipment: blender or food processor


  1. Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Drink.
  3. Dream of sugar plum fairies.
